Insurance: Our subscription
linked insurance provides
comprehensive cover for PTA committee members and the events you
offer. Incidents do happen so make sure your PTA is covered
by joining PTA-UK. If
you are already a member, make sure you read our information
so that you understand the policy requirements.
Charity registration: PTAs, in England and
Wales with an income in excess of £5,000 are legally required
to register as a charity with
the Charity Commission for England and Wales. For our members in
Northern Ireland we offer guidance on how to register as a
charity with HMRC and we are also keeping a
close eye on the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland so that we
can keep you up-to-date with the requirement to register
once the register for charities formally opens.
Model constitution: PTA-UK members have
access to our model constitution, which once
adopted can be used to obtain fast track online charity
registration, with the Charity Commission for England and
Wales, which takes about 10 days. PTAs in Northern
Ireland have access to their own version of the constitution
which is recognised by HMRC for the purpose of charity
registration.
Legal and Licences: PTA events and
activities require PTA volunteers to be mindful of current
legislation, but this can seem quite daunting. We will
therefore work with you to ensure that you are fully aware of the
various licences that may be required for your PTA events
plus we give you guidance on child protection, health and
safety and risk assessment.
Charity banking: CAF Bank in partnership
with PTA-UK offers an enhanced charity banking service to PTAs that are
registered as charities and members of PTA-UK (England &
Wales only).
