Understanding education

Education is devolved to each of the countries that make up the United Kingdom. The UK Government is responsible for education in England, with the Scottish Government, Welsh Government and Northern Ireland Executive being responsible for education in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland respectively. Consequently, different systems have developed over time.

To be able to confidently support your child at school, it helps to be familiar with the curriculum and therefore what's expected of your child. Ideally this information would be shared with you by the school; however, if you aren't able to find what you need, in this section we've included some links to other useful information. We aim to keep this as up-to-date as possible with the evolving educational landscape.
