Traidcraft Schools

The UK’s largest fair trade organisation, working with teachers and schools to inspire young pioneers and decision-makers every day.

As the UK’s leading fair trade organisation, Traidcraft is dedicated to fighting poverty and works with communities in this country to support communities overseas. We want to encourage the next generation of decision makers to be creative and pioneering in their approach to life, enterprise, and each other, to think about people as well as profit, and to reflect on the impact their choices make on the lives of other people every day.

We provide a range of ways to help the school community integrate with fair trade, and getting involved means you receive discounts on our products. Selling fair trade products in school can be an enterprise project for your students, and you can fundraise for your school at the same time!

So whether you’re interested in empowering students by running their own fair trade tuckshop, starting a Traidcraft Breakfast Club, starting a regular grocery scheme by sharing catalogues, or even simply serving real ground coffee to teachers and parents – there’s an option for you. Our lovely team work to tailor everything we do to suit each school and budget, so get in touch!

Mrs M Glen - St. Andrew's and St Bride's High School, East Kilbride

Every Friday interval, the Fair Trade group in our school have a tuck shop in the ‘Street’ area of our school. This is where most of the pupils ‘hangout’. We also take trays of goodies to staff bases and places where the adults gather. The tuck shop and goodie tray is organised by a simple rota that gives everyone in the group a chance to sell.

The school has been engaged with Traidcraft for three years and it is now becoming part of school life. We have some tremendously faithful and committed members who feel that they have learned various skills in dealing with others and communicating their cause.

We also distribute catalogues to the teachers for Christmas to encourage them to buy some gifts from us. We also have a stall at the school’s Christmas Fayre where we sell our own goods, as well as the products from the Fair Trade Group in the local Parish, with whom we work closely. We feel by selling more, we are making a big difference!

The Fair Trade Group feel that by working with Traidcraft, they have began to appreciate more of what they have in life and feel privileged and happy to help others.
